Most readers of the Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica books know that I spent a number of years creating a comic book series called STARCHILD – but most of the original issues and the two main collected editions are long out of print, and hard to track down. However, earlier in the decade, I released a six-volume set of books called THE ESSENTIAL STARCHILD. This set, which we referred to as the “DVD Collection” contained almost every bit of STARCHILD material that had seen print: the original twelve issue run; the four issue Crossroads; and the first four issues of Mythopolis…but we also included the covers, sketchbook material, art prints, short stories, and a lot of other stuff that WASN’T in the original issues or collections, all wrapped in six brand new covers!
Each volume is squarebound, and contains at least 96 pages of material (Book Five has 112 pages!). The original cover prices ranged from $6.95 to $7.95… a pretty good deal for a squarebound graphic novel, especially these days. And sometime soon, we are planning on releasing a new, one-volume, complete Essential Starchild in preparation for the publication of the NEW material I’ve been working on. But in publishing, that still means it could be a while… and I know there are a lot of fans of my Dragons books who would LOVE to have 600+ pages of illustrated story material they’ve never seen before… So.
